What we collect, and why.

SausageSitting is at the validation stage: we're finding out whether there are enough dachshund families in one place to make this work. This notice covers the waitlist only. Last updated 24 August 2026.

Who we are

SausageSitting is an early-stage project run from the United Kingdom. For anything in this notice — including a request to see or delete your data — email hello@sausage.org.uk.

Before launch this section needs the registered trading name and a postal address, and if the project takes on staff or scales up, an ICO registration.

What we collect

  • Your email address — so we can tell you when we launch near you.
  • The first part of your postcode (the district, like N1 or BS7) — so we can see where the clusters of dachshund owners are. We never ask for your full postcode or your address.
  • Your first name and your dachshund's name, if you answer the questions on the thank-you page — so we can write to you like a person rather than a record.
  • Your survey answers — what you'd use the service for, whether you'd look after someone else's dachshund, which kinds of sitter households you'd consider, whether our dachshund-safety certificate would reassure you, what else would make you comfortable, and which model appeals.
  • How you found us — the source value in the link you arrived on.

We don't collect payment details, we don't ask for your address, and we don't buy or sell contact lists.

Why we're allowed to hold it

Our lawful basis is your consent: you chose to join the waitlist, and you can withdraw at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe link in anything we send. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

Who else sees it

  • Supabase hosts the database the waitlist is stored in.
  • Vercel hosts and serves the website.
  • PostHog gives us anonymous product analytics — which pages get read, which buttons get pressed. This uses cookies and local storage in your browser.

That's the entire list. Nobody else is given your details, and we don't use them for anything other than SausageSitting.

Confirm the hosting regions for Supabase and Vercel and name them here; if either processes data outside the UK/EEA, this section must say so and name the transfer safeguard.

Cookies and analytics

The site sets analytics cookies through PostHog as soon as it loads. You can block them in your browser, and the site works exactly the same without them.

UK and EU rules require consent before non-essential analytics cookies are set. A consent banner — or switching PostHog to cookieless, memory-only persistence — is required before this site is promoted.

How long we keep it

Until we launch, or until we decide not to — and then for no more than twelve months after that, unless you've become a member in the meantime. If you ask us to delete your details we'll do it within 30 days and confirm when it's done.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we're using it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email hello@sausage.org.uk and we'll respond within a month. If you're not happy with how we've handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects you, we'll email everyone on the waitlist rather than quietly editing the page.
